Dead Beat (Dresden Files Series #7)

Dead Beat (Dresden Files Series #7) - I've had such a great run of reads lately, and this was no different. I love Harry! His chivalrous nature and tender heart are revealed only to the reader, which is one of my favorite things about him. To the masses, he is badass wizard extraordinaire. Only to a few very close friends does he reveal the real Harry. In Deat Beat, he is once again fighting against seemingly insurmountable odds. His sidekick is Butters, the mousy little mortician and one of Harry's truly genuine buddies. Since Karen Murphy has flown the coop with this installment of the series (which is a story unto itself, and you have to read it to understand why), Harry's without his normal backup. Butters adds some wonderful humor to the story! He's an admitted coward, so it's a bit crazy when Harry gets into one of his crazy skirmishes with zombies, fairies, demons...and oh, yeah...dinosaurs!!!After the romantic tangles that have popped up in Harry's life, I'm really rooting for something solid to happen in that department. I'm at the point where I just feel so bad for him! He does so much for everyone else, and most people still mistrust him or just don't like him. I thing that it's time that Harry gets someone who is firmly on his side. Even if Murphy and he don't get on the FREAKING ball and hook up, the least he can get is a loyal badass sidekick who can actually stick with him through it all. Though I suppose Thomas could be considered a major player in his life, at this point he's still more of a drag on Harry and his resources than any kind of help.Great Urban Fantasy series, loaded with action and plot twists! It never gets old, and Harry is such a genuinely likeable guy. This is one series that still has the potential to keep going with unlimited series potential!
