In a word: Intense! At times heartbreaking, this was very different than the first two books. It had a much more serious tone, as the sub in this book was viciously beaten by her husband a year prior to the beginning of the story. Nolan is described as a big, dark, scary looking quiet Dom. And he is, but he's also such a patient, good man. Very well written, definitely still pushing toward the edge of my comfort zone when it comes to the exhibitionism and a few other smaller details. But I see the appeal. The trust level between the D/s has to be rock solid, and Nolan had to work awfully hard. I actually teared up once. I think people tend to build walls around their emotions, and Nolan wouldn't let Beth keep anything from him. He does it so perfectly, though, that she finally feels strong enough to allow for her vulnerability to show.
