Show No Mercy

Show No Mercy - Cindy Gerard The first half of Show No Mercy was a bit confusing. I had to get online to check and see if this was actually the first book in the series, or if perhaps there was a prequel novella to the series. Gabe and Jenna have a sort of history with each other that I thought needed to be clarified. I knew from the synopsis that Gabe had rescued her in the past, but it seemed as if there was enough connection between the two at the beginning of the book that the prologue should have been about the rescue mission. Instead, it was about the BOIs and how they came to be. Which I needed to know, too, I just think that part could have been explained throughout the book instead of the background info between Jenna and Gabe. That being said, I really liked it. While the beginning was a bit confusing, once the storyline really fell into place, I became very engaged in the characters. Gabe is almost the perfect hero. Of course, he doesn't think so, and continually keeps pushing Jenna away. A few encounters later, and Jenna is in full fight or flight mode. Of course, she is a strong willed, smart mouthed woman and takes no sass. A great combo, truly evil villains, an unexpected secondary storyline, and a few secondary characters make this a fabulous read. And I'm already on to the next one!
