Rock Chick Renegade (Rock Chick, #4)

Rock Chick Renegade - Kristen Ashley Another fabulous installment in the Rock Chick series, and I do believe that Jules is a close runner up to Jet in my favorite Rock Chick spot. She's a social worker with an attitude. After losing her entire family as a child, she's now unwittingly made her own. Between her boys on the street that she protects nightly, her new found Rock Chick friends, and of course, the hot pack, you would think that she would be well insulated from the drug lords of Denver. But Jules is the toughest Rock Chick there is. I usually go for the helpless females, hence my love of the dominating males. But Jules had an innate vulnerability that she covered up with attitude. I love Jules' internal dialogue. Her nickname for her inner ass kicker is 'head bashing mamma jamma.' I laughed every single time. She also talks to her cat. He answers in meows, but she knows what he's saying. And being an animal lover myself, I know how it is when you know your pet to that extreme. Could be a little scary for people who don't know you. But Vance takes it in stride and in fact, this is one of Jules endearing qualities. What a guy!Vance at first just tries to make her see reason, and when Jules teenage boys from the foster home are threatened, he finally steps up and helps out. Only he falls just about as fast as the rest of the hot pack and their women. So he changes tactics, and sets about wooing Jules "Kristen Ashley" style. You know, the style that would make me kick his a** to the curb in real life, but makes me swoon to read about. This is the first KA book that has made me cry. Maybe because, while the other men and women are fabulous together and one hundred percent dedicated to each other, Jules and Vance are the first couple that truly needs each other. Their story is, as always hilarious but also heartfelt and suspenseful.
