This is a sweet and surprisingly sexy contemporary. I had read her Brewery series and liked it, as Ms. Dahl writes really likeable characters. I always get the feeling that they could be the couple living next door instead of fictional people. Ben and Molly are easily relate-able. No one makes any spectacularly idiotic decisions, though Molly's decision to hide her career choice didn't necessarily make a lot of sense. She's an erotic romance writer. She hides what she does from everyone in her life, including her parents. Ben, as the chief of police in the tiny mountain town of Tumble Creek, is very suspicious of his best friend's little sister. He doesn't believe in secrets and scandal. And Molly means both. Their relationship, or lack thereof, soon becomes fodder for town gossip. Molly's good with a fling. She's lusted after Ben since she was a teen. But Ben is responsible, quiet, and somewhat shy. Don't let that fool you into thinking he's not also big and tough and strong! Oh, goodness can Victoria Dahl turn up the heat!!! She writes about normal people, but her sex scenes are definitely on the steamy side. Overall, a solid four stars from me.
